Children's Faith Formation begins in Kindergarten, continuing through the Eighth Grade. Each school year builds on the knowledge learned during the previous year, the understanding of the child and the experience of faith expressed through the family. It is important for families to attend mass together, pray and discuss their faith, to reinforce the weekly lessons.

Children's Liturgy of the Word (pre-K - 2nd & 3rd - 5th grade) each week at the 9:30am mass offers children an opportunity to hear the readings from the Children's Lectionary, followed by discussion and/or an activity. Children are dismissed following the Opening Prayer and return to church following the General Intercessions.

Faith Formation Classes are offered:

  • Sundays, 10:30-11:30am & Wednesdays, 3:45-4:45pm
  • Classes are held in the East wing of St. Pius School
  • Children attend grade level classes

Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist requires two years of classes. For example; children may receive the Sacraments in Second grade if they attend class in First and Second grades. Older Children (grades 2-8) will prepare for Sacraments during their second year of class.

Sacrament of Confirmation: preparation takes place during the Sophomore Year (10th grade) students must have grade level knowledge to participate or take the Catholicism 101 workshop prior to beginning the preparation process.
