At Confirmation, we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and we are filled with God's grace through the anointing of chrism oil and the laying on of hands by a bishop.
"Bound more intimately to the Church by the Sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are endowed by the Holy Spirit with special strength, hence they are more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith both by word and by deed as true witnesses of Christ" (Lumen Gentium, 11)
Confirmation is the last of three sacraments of initiation that one receives. The sacrament is closely linked to Baptism in that it confirms one's faith and bestows the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Typically, it is celebrated in 8th grade or during a young person's high school years.
Please go to pius.org/cff for program and registration information.
For teens, the preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is a one-year program open to current 9th grade and high school parishioners who have been registered in the parish at least 6 months. Our program begins in the fall of each year. For more information, please contact the Parish Center at (650) 361-1411.
For adults, the preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is through the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) program.
